MOTIVATING MONDAY: #HARDWORK ≠ SUCCESS

#hardwork #hustle #grind – you'll stumble across these hashtags all over social media. They suggest to work your butt of and soon you'll reap the harvest, your signature will be called an autograph and whatnot. Motivating? Sure. True? Maybe not.

Motivierend? Mit Sicherheit. Wahr? Wohl eher nicht.

MOTIVATING MONDAY: #HARDWORK ≠ SUCCESS

Hard work alone will not bring you success. We are being told the harder we work, the greater our success will be. Hard work times x equals wealth and riches and fame. But there is one variable this popular way of thinking is missing.

You can work all you want, but if it's just work for the sake of looking busy, you are getting nowhere. The world is filled with people who work hard, but have nothing to show for it. They call it unfair, think they are the unlucky ones. But this is not about luck or fairness.

Think of it this way: You can sit down right now and spend the next year writing your own book. Make it a big one, with hundreds of pages, a bunch of chapters and a dozens of storyline twists. You could grind, hustle and work hard all you want, but if your idea is mediocre and nothing more than a rip off of something that someone else has already done better, success is not guaranteed. This is the problem with the popular grind mentality. It is not all about the grind.

What really matters are your ideas and your creative ability to execute these ideas. You need to have a firm belief in what you are doing, need to fully be submerged in it and honestly feel, that you have something to offer to the world. Create your own thing, follow your own visions, make things that are not created yet.

If you feel, all your hard wok is not paying off, ask yourself whether your work could possibly lack creativity. If you simply keep repeating the same thing over and over, and wonder why the results won't change, you have got to try a new approach – your own approach.

Maybe it is time to forget about the grind mentality; take it down a notch and use your time to first relax, be in a good place, and then let yourself be inspired, brainstorm and think of what you want to create. Focus on your goal, find the best way to reach the target. Trust in your own creativity and ideas – even if they are unorthodox. Your hard work and your efforts should only be the helpers to your big ideas, not the big idea itself.

MOTIVATING MONDAY: #HARDWORK ≠ SUCCESS
