Although we would probably much rather blink the fact that animal testing is still part of the cosmetics and pharma industry, it is nonetheless the harsh reality. Each year hundreds of thousands of animals suffer gruesome deaths because we want to be pretty and healthy. But there is a ray of hope: Researches around the globe are searching for alternatives to eradicate animal cruelty once and for all. One team of experts in particular is the first to successfully use human skin cells in animal-free cosmetics tests.

Auch wenn wir nur zu gerne die Augen vor der Wahrheit verschließen würden – Tierversuche in der Kosmetik- und Pharmaindustrie werden nach wie vor praktiziert . Jedes Jahr sterben hunderttausende Tiere qualvolle Tode, weil wir gesund und hübsch sein wollen. Es gibt aber einen Hoffnungsschimmer: Wissenschaftler weltweit suchen nach Alternativen, welche der Tierquälereien ein Ende setzten sollen. Ein Forscher-Team aus England hat es nun geschafft, menschliche Hautzellen in tierversuchsfreien Kosmetik-Tests einzusetzen.

Animal testing and cruelty is real. For years I have been avoiding this harsh reality, not because I do not care, but because I could not face it. This however, ends today. I want to write this post in order to inform – you and myself – about the truth behind the cosmetics industry worldwide, what their practices are, and what products you can buy with a good conscience. This post does not include any horrific pictures or videos.
